I’m back in a much colder and less greener Finland after a very relaxing, warm and funny week with my sister on the Black Sea cost in Bulgaria. What a week! We spent 4 days almost only lying by the pool, getting tanned (Jennie of course more than me). One day was spent in the city of Varna (which was a big disappointment, nothing to see, nothing to shop). Every evening we went out for dinner at different restaurants every time. We had some great food experiences, some less good and some uneatable one’s, but non the less, we had some good laughs at the restaurants! =) Some of the waiters had quite poor English and we will definitly remember some of them, saying some funny things. At the place were we got the worst food (watch out for the pirate ship, if you ever go to Golden Sands), the waiter came up to us after the meal asking with a big smile on his face: “Was it delicious?”. I answered “it was okey”, Jennie looked down on her plate… =) At an other restaurant we had some trouble getting through our drink order to the waitress. I said “One bottle of still water to share, please”. She said: “Mineral water?” I replied, “No, still, no bubbles”. She said, “Okey… (with a pause) so that’s two mineral waters then” =) *sigh* I said, ”no no, only ONE bottle, and NO mineral water”… we got it in the end… =)
The beach was beautiful but the water in the Black Sea was freezing cold so we only dipped our feet in it and walked along the beach bearfeet. Got some lovely pics of course, will try and upload a few later on. Everything in Bulgaria is very cheap, half the price of everything here in Finland. 1 Bulgarian lev is about 0.50€. I had a massage at the hotel Spa one day for 22 lev, which means 11 euros, and I think that’s class! Our last dinner was a 550g burger with a portion of chips, which costed us 6 lev each, 3 euroes. Like you’d get a meal for that in Finland… =)
Our hotel was amazing! In the plane flying down there, it was announced that our hotel Erma had not yet finnished with their re-painting, which ment they’d moved us to another hotel, Atlas. It turned out to be a 4 star hotel with a great view over the sea, amazing breakfast included and luxurious facilities including a spa, hairdressers, a gym, three pools and a big area with sunbeds. We loved it there!! =)
Now I’m back in Vasa, celebrating Mother’s day today, but back to Turku tomorrow afternoon. I would actually much rather stay here now, but I need to get down to finnish off my studies for this spring.
I -for one- am glad you’re coming back to Turku. Was it this week we were planning to drink tea together – or next? Call me.
Only two puppies now – and we have an area outside where they can’t get to us – so you’ll be safe. Tuesday or Wednesday lunch /afternoon works best for me (I think!)
